More information about this product
Located north of Colombia's Eastern mountain range, Santander was one of the country's first coffee growing regions and home to more than 37,500 coffee growers. Santander is privileged by its rich biodiversity and high sunshine levels, where coffee grows under the shade of native forests, resulting in exquisite herbal notes.
Coffee growers from Santander are recognized for their cultural roots, embodied in their hard-working, sincere and strong personalities. Organized and proud, they put their knowledge into each bean they harvest.
The majority are small coffee growers who manage their family farm. While 10% of the region's coffee growers own technologically advanced farms, 90% have farms that are 1.72 hectares or smaller.
This coffee growing region, located at altitudes between 1200 and 1900 meters above sea level, has average temperatures of 19,6° celsius and high sunshine levels. Crops in Santander grow under the shade of native forests. As a result of the consistent temperatures provided by the shade, beans are able to reach optimal maturity before being harvested.
